In Response To: Ineffective attempt at making deltarune comparison (joyeuse noelle) TLDR: Deltarune's asking a lot of questions, and one of them is whether your choices matter. Like in Marathon Infinity, if you go to awful lengths you can make them that way, but the price might be too high. If, like in Undertale with "it's kill or be killed", we are meant to subvert the idea that our choices don't matter, the furthest extreme of response to that would be "*I* am destiny." Note that in both undertale no mercy route end and Marathon Infinity the main character survives the ultimate destruction of the world, with the implication that they travel to another world (Deltarune/Halo) with similar lore. They both give "Writer read Garden of Forking Paths" vibes, and indeed Ch. 4 has an old, genre-savvy character named Gerson Boom who is a writer (Tolkien tribute). Gerson is very skeptical of the propehcy and believes that the prophecy and fate is not final. He advocates for "going between the lines" (again, amke the maze from its path) and says that "you might get better ideas that way" about going the wrong way, in an area where the characters are trying to work out where to go; this is a clear microcosm of the larger question of what route to take. Who asks Kris, when they come to a crossroads, which path they will take. The options are further left (when left should be the end) which leads to an additional +1 max hitpoint, back, "Susie" or "nowhere."
