Knock-Knock. Who Goes There? The Pfhor

Last Christmas I got John Campbell Jr's novel Frozen Hell because I really like the film The Thing after I saw it a few years ago (2019 or 2020 maybe? 2021?). Now the easiest thing to compare er...the Thing to is the Flood from Halo but the original novel reveals the Thushol's true form and looking at the book's cover, hmm. Where have I seen an alien with that kind of head before?

Incidentally, before the Thushol were revealed in this book to have come from a distant star system with a blue sun, they debuted in John Jr's earlier short story Brain Stealers of Mars as a Martian race. Makes you wonder what the UESC found buried in the Martian polar ice cliffs that led them to decide to build the Marathon...
