There's no Marathon-verse, any more than there is a Marvel-verse. This multiverse stuff is just marketing language to keep people consuming unrelated products. It's okay for people to connect them in their heads if they want to, but imo brand continuity is not the same as story continuity. I suppose it could still earn the second one, the way some of the best fan works have, but I'll hold my judgement on that.
