Something you may have noticed from the front page of this site is, our protagonist, the SO? He's brown.
This is fan art, but it does represent his pigment in M1 pretty well. All the bobs you see have this skin tone, too. Their actual race isn't ever elaborated on, except "martian." I think this is another fantastic piece of worldbuilding of far-flung future human colonization of mars depicting races mixing, dying out and evolving to adapt to the martian environment. Then in M2, everyone is white! Huh? The easy thing to do is chalk it up to this:
But this is the story forum. The conclusions we make have to be wattsonian, not doylian (wait, isn't holmes the smart guy? Who comes up with these terms?). Durandal only took the bobs that were already inprisoned in the boomer. You could say maybe the bobs the aliens captured were all white (why were they that discriminating then?), but we see them in their cages in one map of M1, and the SO sprite is white in M2 also. My headcanon is being put in stasis for 17 years in the dark drained all the melanin in their skin. But then their hair should be white, too. They would be like albinos if that happened. Alternate Infinity timeline?
