I'd love to see one too. The closest we came to one was the Doom 3 mod Pathways Redux and it's never been finished. The world building is excellent as is the scary atmosphere but the combat and monsters all suck, plus some of the levels are missing besides the ones underground.
The closest I've seen to a spiritual successor to PID is Nightmare Reaper on steam, which is what you'd get if you gave Pathways into Darkness the same treatment Rise of the Triad gave to Wolfenstein 3D. Beware of spoilers in the videos below.
