Indeed, convergent engineering? We saw in M1 that the Pfhor took an interest in studying human weapons. It seems a stretch that even with Tycho that they would engineer new ones in the same way as Tycho?
I mean obviously it's just because MI has to use the same assets as M2, but if we want to get really nerdy about it, then maybe they're the same because Durandal was working with the same Pfhor ship machinery and so he was limited to their specifications?
