In Response To: Re: What's the best way to share a file? (Godot)

: Why does this remind me of the Conversatron . ;)

: Over the years I have learnt that the best way to get someone to read a large
: document is to break it up in small bite size pieces. I would serialise
: this on the Story forum and hopefully get some discussion on each bit you
: post. If this uncovers new theories etc (which I am sure it will) I will
: create a section for it on the Story page.

: I am not sure what the max word count on a forum post is but I think posting
: a couple of pages at a time will ensure that more people will actually
: read it and engage with it. That includes me by the way.

The highest word count I've been able to include more recently has been a 54 page document with 4091 words before editing in a few more as needed, plus images and paragraph breaks.

The highest word max count I've been able to get away before then with without getting the Message Too Long error (at first glance at my older document files) was the SPV3 Library entry coming in at 5152 words plus images.

Something I find useful is seeing how much you can add in a single message from the original document. If the forum messager says it's too long when previewing, find an appropriate place to end off (add a continuation marker or "till next time, folks" message as needed) then cut the text after that point, so it can be pasted back into the next part after posting the first one. I had to do this on the Control Room levels of SPV3 as those levels in that mod are just too long for a single post to cover.

For non-game level based posts that could get that long like Philtron's one, finding good end-off points in the document file itself and marking where they are (such as having up to one or two headered sections of reasonable length maximum in a single part before the cutoff point) can also help.

It can also make organising where each serial part begins more easily.
