I'm glad that this is the consensus of learned Marathon scholars. I was arguing this myself and feeling in the minority when doing so.
That said, I do think it is reasonably likely that the "Phf" spelling on the shirt is an unintentional mistake, but it is an easily justifiable one, i.e. even if it wasn't done on purpose, it's would have been acceptable to do it on purpose, for the reasons given.
