Not to mention the only reason out of universe the scope isn't used other than Bungie probably not being able to implement it at the time is that it would have to use the secondary fire, which is already taken up by the duel wield option.
I'm happy that we finally get to use the scope in Halo 1 but I still think it's kind of badass that Marcus/SO doesn't need the scope when he used them and he can snipe not only with a pistol, but duel pistols as well.
I'd love to use the scope myself even then, especially if Nerf Gun versions of Marathon weapons are made.
