This is almost too good to be called fanfiction. There's no blatant Mary Sueism, sloppy mechanics, or absurdity that's a signature of fanfic, and it even makes a character as godly as Durandal ridiculously flawed by taking him out of his element.
Welll.... except this line here: Vince's arms wrapped around a close friend with whom he could never have made actual, tangible contact with until now.
