You know, it's the darndest thing, I could SWEAR that there's a mention somewhere in the games of alien technology being found in the solar system, but I can never remember where it is. So I'm not sure, either. /o\ But it looks like it's confirmed now!

That was actually one of my first thoughts when I realized it, haha! It still seems like it should be more difficult than it is, but at least there's a bit of an excuse now.
I just checked and the "killed ten percent of the Martian population" bit is from a terminal on "The Rose," so we did already know that, but it does confirm that the Destiny guns are from that same timeline (or cluster of timelines, might be more accurate).
