If you look closely at the pipes, and compare them to the multiple views of the alien gun, you will find the similarities are entirely the result of viewing angle. Neither one resembles a pelvis in 3d space.
For that matter, the alien gun's *actual* shape is nothing like the pipes, it being a wrap around backpack/arm deal, as opposed to miniature bagpipes. There are aesthetic similarities, but nothing structural.
