Previously, I've speculated on whether the Jjaro were a race of AIs, and whether Durandal is a Jjaro. Now, here's an even further out-there theory: What if the Jjaro are Durandal?
So, as we know, Infinity involves a lot of time travel, the end goal of which is to create a new AI by merging Durandal and Thoth. The resulting AI has an icon that looks like an infinity symbol, created by merging Durandal's circular UESC logo with Thoth's two intersecting squares. The weirdness comes from the fact that long before this merger occurs, we see this logo, not only physically plastered on everything in the Jjaro station, but also appearing on various terminals throughout the game. We also often get messages guiding us from someone bearing this logo, particularly in the "dream" levels. So what does it mean?
Well, knowing that the Durandal/Thoth entity has access to time travel at the end of the game, he/it actually has a pretty easy way to escape the closure of the universe: when it becomes imminent, simply time travel back to shortly after the Big Bang, and go through it until it closes again, at which time you repeat the process. Of course, doing this multiple times would result in multiple instances of oneself flitting about the universe, which eventually would become numerous enough to be considered a race: the Jjaro. Durandal/Thoth would then fight off the primordial W'rkncacnters, making it possible for intelligent life to develop in the galaxy, and later would create the S'pht, save Earth in PiD, and do many other deeds that one definitely *could* consider godlike. Also, Durandal's habit of showing up to do something, creating some crazy upgraded technology, and then taking off into the unknown when he's done would leave behind lots of technological artifacts all over the place, suggesting a dead civilization that still manages to show up from time to time when needed, which seems to fit the Jjaro's MO.
