: Then there's the possibility that the strange dream reality of the pyramid
: may have altered his body so that he could last/live that long. Also,
: isn't there an epilogue where it's confirmed that the PC smuggled out
: certain artifacts from the pyramid, so it's possible that these artifacts
: helped him survive that long (maybe the epilogue was in the strategy
: guide, so maybe it's not canon).
Austin (or Sgt. Eddings, as the guide called him) did hang on whatever artifacts he didn't destroy (to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands, presumably), but I get the feeling that, say, the Clear Blue Potion would've run out long before Austin could be battleroided, no matter how careful he was with it. That's assuming it could do more than just heal wounds.
As for Austin already being dead--that's the first I'v heard of that theory, I think, but I do have to wonder why the monsters seem to have no problem killing him again, or why getting caught in the final blast would be such a big deal. Maybe Austin was just made of iron, as they'd say.
