I think you should keep the PID monsters but give them their original projectiles at faster speed than in PID and include at least one or two more like Oozes for sewage levels (because the oozes are made of poo) and at least one or two Big blue meanies as Hellknight esque bosses. You could do a scarier re-skin of the wraiths and make them visible in Hypervision chips like the Infrared goggles in PID and add some banshees in their levels too as an added challenge. (invisible when the wraiths can be seen) I have an idea for an even scarier monster but it may more likely appear in Path of K.A.P if I actually manage to make it. It pursues you in the final few levels but only appears when it kills you. It's levels are filled with black holes identical to these ones:
...which are instant death upon contact. The monster itself is invisible but you can only see it on your Automap as your Motion Tracker goes apeshit like in WAMID. If it or the black holes kill you, it appears fullscreen close up while VERY LOUD feedback and mechanical screeching noises are heard (headphones users beware) and then the game crashes to desktop with an error message confirming player death. In number to alphabet code, it's designated 1955135, the Antitime. Also, there is no saving in the levels it appears in. I would take it a step further and make one Antitime death result in many of the Path of K.A.P savegame files being wiped Binding of Isaac style but that may be taking it too far.
