That's assuming only one narrow branch of animal life on the Pfhor homeworld evolved (or was engineered to have) intelligence.

Suppose, for instance, that a lucky species of octopus advanced to the point of creating sophisticated civilization. Now pretend they wanted to take part in space exploration. We wouldn't call them human, obviously, but they'd have a fair claim to the title of 'earthling'.
