Well, he did turn on (or at least, didn't turn off) the Sentinels. That almost helped us, if you don't play like me and keep getting between them and the Flood.
One important difference is highlighted by the Halo Nation walkthrough:
Resist the urge to pick up the rocket launcher; it will just mess you up due to the time it takes to line up a shot and switch back to a close range weapon.

At the end of the IIHARL gauntlet, the tide abruptly turns once you secure the recharger and supply of rockets. If you're interested in clearing the level or exploring, the upper corridors are a great reward for making it through. I love to go back and give the troopers stuck in the first room a celebratory rocket to the face. In The Library, you get to catch your breath on the elevators, and you have more choices in approaching the individual battles, but it's combat all the way to the end.
