I think the thing to take away is that naming Master Chief's pelican Foe Hammer is just another of the stupefying number of nods to Marathon that Bungie hid in plain sight in Halo. Damn man, the first time I played Halo's solo campaign, I practically squealed out loud when I saw the Marathon logo on the bowl of Captain Keyes's pipe.
