Well, another technique is to open the door at the bottom, run towards it, start to close it at the last minute, and yank the trigger down on the Flamethrower. Done properly, the floor of the door will have raised off the ground enough to get you airborne so that the Flamethrower can launch you up.

I think I may have earned my Iced Coffee now. ;)
