| In Response To: Aleph One 1.1b1 (treellama) : A beta release of Aleph One is available from SourceForge... Just finished playing through Marathon (how many times does this make?) with the new beta. My verdict, exploda-bug issue aside, is...pretty effing sweet! M1A1 was a great effort, and I enjoyed playing it, but time to put it away because real Marathon is back! It's hard to put a finger on it, but the game just feels the way it should. Mostly, I think it is the correct monster behavior because of the functioning glue/super-glue polys, but it is also the proper damage polys (alien goo, etc.), great terminal implementation, and the other little touches that make it seem like real Marathon and not Marathon Infinity in drag. For someone like me who played the fsck out of all three Marathons back in the day, there really is a whole different feel to Marathon compared to M2 and Infinity, and the current beta does a great job letting those original Marathon game files shine through. Really, a super, super job on the new beta, guys!
