Actually, you can't just tap the wall. Instead, you have to grenade jump to the southernmost ledge in that area. Run around the ledge a bit just to be sure, and you should trigger the door to rise and lower, rise and lower.
Sorry for the confusion - I guess I saw the map layout and just made an assumption. Having just run through Blaspheme Quarantine again real fast with Cheats.lua to check out that secret area, I realized my mistake and quickly returned to fix it.
