Oh come on, man, now you're just guessing... ;)

It's fairly clear they're eyes. I don't really see what else they could be. Then again, Troopers' visors are unbelievably foggy, as pointed out in a short story. So god knows how much Pfhor High Command really cares about whether or not their soldiers can actually see anything.
