So far the only reason why I can think being able to scrutinize a saved game file in this manner would be of use would be to verify a person's final stats screen. If PIDmastery ever caught on and people began sending in final stats screens claiming that they now "topped the leader board" then you could check their final saved game to verify the stats.

Not sure what you mean by the last part: "display custom annotated maps"?
