You laugh about communism but I had a rude awakening.
Back in 91 I refereed to the 5 women in our warehouse that stuffed disks into Talking Moose boxes as "peons." They heard me and I hurt their feelings.
About a year later *I* made a mistake while compiling a new phrases file for a Moose update and it was in 5,000 boxes before I caught the mistake. The women that my company depended upon for manual labor were all gone for a long holiday weekend. Two sales guys and I had to break down all those boxes, redupe the disks, and build 5,000 new.
Nobody at the company would let me live the incident down and I don't blame them.
After days of cardboard papercuts I came to the realization; when you take the long view, everyone's job was equally important in making the company GO.
So here's a toast to the workers from a fellow peon.
