Alex was nice enough to put me in touch with the people at Bungie who could make this happen, and I've been sending them gentle reminders about it. Maybe others have been bugging them about it too--if so, thanks.
You're probably thinking of the Marathon 2 for Windows code. That's what they claimed was lost in the original Marathon 2 code release readme.
