I remember the 90's. :-)
Yes the Spoiler Guide began on a.g.m and c.s.m.g
Mike Neylon began it in Jan 1995 as a text based affair. The first full version (v1.0) was released on Feb 2, 1995 both as a text version and a WWW page at umich.edu
Google Groups has a number of the pre v1.0 and post v1.0 text versions.
There are even web pages still out there with old text versions. For example:
