I agree. Though the rules seem like they might be useful as an argumentative tool when you have a bunch of different people asserting their views on what's true and what's not. Especially when you have things which are supposedly consistent being written by different authors. When someone attacks Bungie for getting the thing that they created wrong, and saying that someone else got it right (someone who is not the intellectual property's originator, but is, in my limited view, along for the ride); my knee-jerk reaction is to become indignant.
