That's all you need to do. The host has to allow carnage messages, so if you're hosting, make sure you allow them.
: Also, once I get that working, is there a way to spawn with the assault
: riffle instead of the pistol, or maybe two pistols?
If you're hosting a net game, you can run one of the net scripts from Spawn Whiners:
http://fileball.bungie.org/index.php?option=com_remository&func=fileinfo&id=5
Check the "Use Netscript" box and pick the appropriate script. It will start you with an AR and some ammo.
