: One wish alone have I
: [...]
: As I will then no more
: A wanderer be,
: Let them with fondness store
: My memory.
: And Lucifer the while,
: Above the pine,
: Good comrade mine,
This is not a particularly accurate translation, unfortunately. The "Lucifer" reference in Romanian, at that point is a reference to the planet Venus as seen in the morning sky because the word is also associate with something that shines brightly. Many celestial bodies have references to "Lucifer" in Romanian folklore because of this other meaning, and not Lucifer the devil. So just to clarify..in Eminescu's poem, the reference is to Venus, the "morning star" in Romanian folklore, and not the devil. It's Venus that rises above the pine, the good comrade that comes back every day to witness his life and the earth...etc.
This is the last place I'd expect an Eminescu reference though. Good job.
