Get the latest version of Aleph One for your OS and the scenarios here:
http://source.bungie.org/get/
Most people play Infinity online, so you should try that first if you want to play with anybody. If you want to play something else you get your group of friends and agree on what, when, etc.
Everyone gets disconnected but you... That could be many things. ISP problems, Firewall problems. Maybe it wasn't you, but the host's fault.
