PID: The M-79 grenades... Difference between them?

So, it must have been 10 years since I last played Pathways Into Darkness. But recently I wanted to play it again. So I downloaded Basilisk II and are now running it on my XP box once again. Still a very great game.
There is this one question I want answered. What are the differences between the grenades in Pathways? We have HE, Projectile and Fragmentation grenades.
I know that you need the fragmentation grenades for the skitters. But what is the most powerfull grenade? What is the difference between the HE and Projectile grenades?
