Now accepting submissions! Nuke & Pave, the new Peer-Review Marathon Map Journal, is ready to accept submissions for its first issue! Send your maps to nukeandpaveeditor@gmail.com. Please be sure to make a .zip of your map file before submitting! Nuke & Pave is a brand-new service created by Marathon map enthusiasts for Marathon map enthusiasts. Our goal is to assemble a collection of high-quality, fun-to-play network maps and provide an educational service to the community. Every time we fill our quota, we will release a pack of maps together with informative articles providing tips and tested techniques for creating higher-quality maps. To do this, we need YOU! Regardless of your expertise in mapping, you can benefit from this community-based service. When the editor receives your entry, he will check it for technical proficiency (please make sure your maps have no untextured walls or glaring bugs). After that, he'll send it to two different anonymous referees, who will review it and send their suggestions to the editor. You will receive back from him then one of three replies: "Accepted" (in which case he'll provide further instructions for a possible companion article), "Revise and Resubmit" (in which case he'll forward the referees' comments to you for advice: notice that this is neither a rejection nor a guarantee of acceptance upon resubmission), or "Rejected" (in which case he will include notes on why it was rejected; no big deal, fix it or make something new, and Try Again!). If you're an expert mapper, submit a map that illustrates a specific technique or highlights an architectural, textural, or lighting feature - or create a map with intense carnage and flow (but make sure it's fun - don't sacrifice playability for a forced emphasis - remember that referees will review your submissions too)! Be ready to explain your techniques and tricks to others who will be able to use those methods in their maps. Also, we could use you as a referee! Please consider the opportunity to aspiring mappers! If you're an intermediate mapper, submit a map that you like but would like to see even better! Referees will review all submitted maps and critique them, providing helpful analysis to improve your map. Should your map be accepted to the journal (perhaps after revisions), you may be asked to discuss your creative and/or revision processes to help similar mappers. If you're a mere beginner (or would like to begin!), download and learn from our journal: play the maps, read the articles, and learn how fun it can be to make network maps! And, when you're ready, submit a map yourself. We'll gear at least one article per issue specifically to newer mappers. We are looking forward to receiving your submissions and getting Nuke & Pave up and running! Thank you! Kinetic Turtle, submissions editor
