In Response To: 2 years. Have those features been worked on since? *NM* (Andrew Nagy) Hmm, detail textures sort of went out of fashion with the advent of video cards with more than 16 MB of memory and hardware texture compression support. For example, UT's S3TC textures look much better than its standard textures with detail textures turned on. Aleph One supports S3TC and custom mipmaps, as of the 5/6 release. The effect Forrest describes (applying a large texture on top of smaller repeating textures) is a macrotexture (not to be confused with Carmack's megatexture), and it could be useful for breaking up some of the repetitiveness. I didn't see texture scaling (particularly in regards to detail textures) in the RX patch when I looked through it, though. I suppose I could look again if there's sufficient interest. OpenGL load screens are available starting with the 5/6 release, as well.
