Huh. I figured people would think "Star Wars Episode 3!". Dual-weilding lightsabers? That is SO Darth Greivous. And these things really are more lightsabers than Covenant swords anyway... they're straight rods of energy, not the intricately shaped plasma blades like Halo has. Hence my comment "George Lucas is gonna sue somebody!" (now, trivial quiz... where is that quote from?)
Of course, they're not actually CALLED lightsabers... they're called "Standing Wave Blades", in theme with the "Wave Motion Cannon". It's basically what you get when you confine a Wave Motion Cannon shot (which is, in Eternal, a sharp, artificially generated gravitomagnetic wave, i.e. a funky little ripple in spacetime that act similarly to a black hole's event horizon, in that anything that crosses it is torn apart by tidal forces) and attach it to a handheld device. You get an event horizon on a stick without all the ubermassive crushing-the-solar-system problems usually associated with stong gravitic fields.
It makes a good stick for whacking people with. And you get two of them. Eventually. Lucky you.
