: Chris, like you, I have used the "Data" method to store the shapes,
: sounds and all
: game files for Portal of Sigma chapter 1 onMac OSX. But it seem to be causing
: problem for windows/sdl
: users, apparently it's a startup bug when windows/sdl users start the game.
: In that case, they removed the "Sigma.mml" script and then
: everything run fine, but without
: the cool head up display stuff and all/
: So if anyone out there on windows can help us make our scenario compatible
: with windows, that
: would be great!
It's just Aleph Sigma Recording. Aleph One can't create the recording, because no "Data" directory exists in the user's preferences directory. One solution is to create said "Data" directory, with a script or something. Don't do this.
A better solution is to change Data/Aleph Sigma Recording to just Aleph Sigma Recording, which is the only thing I had to do to get it working in Linux (and hence for Windows). Said change is also necessary for users of the preview Mac OS X SDL Universal Binary. Only Mac OS X NIBs stores saved games / films in the scenario directory, a carryover from Marathon 2 which is inappropriate on today's multiuser systems.
If you like, I can send you a ZIP file with my SDL version (with Aleph Sigma Recording fix, and superlog.mml removed, but too lazy to remove bad error string overriding in Sigma.mml).
I dislike the hacky "Data" folder for Maps/Shapes/Sounds/Images (why not just put these in the root of the scenario directory where people are used to seeing them?), but they shouldn't cause problems.
