The Find Internet Game server (used to be called the metaserver) is the right place. One problem is that when people are in-game, they don't appear in that room. So, you really have to wait around for a while to see if people are around and playing games. Because if they are, they only appear in there briefly as they join the next game.
Though I have noticed it's a bit slow lately.
