You do know you can remap your keyboard just about any way you want, In addition to simply using the International control panel in the system prefs, there are a few system hacks out there that allow you to remap any key to any function you want. I'm a bit too lazy to look them up, however.

Really, the simplest thing under OS X is to go to the International control panel in the system prefs and click on the Input Menu tab. Scroll down the list and check US English in addition to your native keyboard layout. Also be sure to check Show Input Menu in Menu Bar. You might also want to scroll back to the top and check Keyboard Viewer, then close System Prefs. Now you'll have a menu that you can select at any time that will allow you to switch keyboard layouts on the fly. Oh, and Key Caps is still there - just select Keyboard Viewer from the same menu - works like a charm.
