On the left menu, select Aliens, and pick the one you wish to edit. Select behavioral settings from the popup menu, deselect all boxes next to "Friends" and select all boxes next to "Enemies". Next, select "Immunities and Weaknesses" and check everything under "Immunities". Then go to "Easy Edit", select "none" under "Ranged attack", and whichever shot you want to edit under "Melee attack". Be sure to pick something no other monster in the game will use, as it will effect their attributes too. On the left menu select "Shots", and select the one used by your monster. Edit the range and damage to your liking.
