In Response To: Changes between origional Marathon and M1A1 (MJ)

: I recently completed M1A1 v1.6 for the first time and although I was very
: impressed I couldn't help noticing that several things were different to
: how I had read that they were in the original Marathon.

: I had read that you could only use 1 fist in the original Marathon but in
: M1A1 you could use 2. I had also read that in the original Marathon the
: Drinniols only appeared on The Rose however in M1A1 they also appeared in
: Blaspheme Quarantine, No Artificial Colours and Ingue Ferroque. Also on
: Ingue Forroque in the room with the secret bungie terminal all of the BOBs
: seemed to be incredibly small. Are these things all changes from the
: original Marathon? If so does anyone know why they were changed?

M1A1 v1.2 is a direct port of the original Marathon.
M1A1 Special Edition v1.6 is a project in which a group of fans decided to change as much as they could, to see how much spiffier M1 could be with modern Marathon features.
Confusing the two is a common mistake, perpetuated by Lt Devon to my annoyance.

A list of changes from v1.2 to v1.6 is available at Orbital Arm, currently on the front news page (10.31.2004 update).

M1A1 v1.2 still has two fists, because it's based on the M2 engine. Also, there have been Drinniol on Blaspheme Quarantine since 1994.
