S.C.Out: Coincidence or...?

S.C.Out is a 1992 PC/Mac game that employs that oldest, most clichéd of plots: you control a lone robot that has to wipe out an alien infestation on Mars' moon Deimos, which was formerly inhabited by weapons-loving separatists who left behind handy caches of ammunition. On each level, your nemesis is a bald, green face with glowing pupils, its mouth fixed in a silent scream, surrounded by circuitry (pictured left):

Think someone might have tried this game out during Marathon development?
