Where some rarely go

In the room where we encounter a Pfhor officer behind a door with a terminal on "Where some rarely go", there is a small cutout in a wall on the opposite side of them room by the window and steps. Is this where a terminal could have been? I have not seen very many places in the marathon games that look like a terminal would have been someplace and later never used. Too bad that Infinity didnt springboard itself into a few alternate marathon 2 levels after "Thing what kicks..."
