half? piffle. i'd say 75-80% is fanboy freakishness taken to an absurd level.
i know i'm repeating myself, and what a few others have said before, but: bungie made it up as they went along. it was a bunch of intelligent writers being stylish and dropping nifty, cool shit here and there to make a nice story to a nice game.
the rest is no different than those jesus freaks who find the virgin mary in hospital windows, toast, street light shadows, water stains on concrete underpasses, and soiled bedsheets.
