: I suppose that's true, but if you set things like map and running to toggle
: based on the abc keys, looking with the touchscreen, firing with the
: trigger, and changing weapons could be a panel in the lower screen (as in
: metroid), I think it would be possible. And action would possibly be on
: the touch screen, or the c key or something. You might be expected to have
: three hands at once in some situations, but I still think it would be
: possible with some creative thinking.
Use the bottom screen to display a section of the map and the HUD, the top screen exclusively for action. Then you don't really have to worry about having a map button. Plus, use the stylus or thumb pad with the touch screen to handle turning and aiming -- like Metroid Prime: Hunters -- while the D-Pad handles running and sidestepping, and that eliminates the need for separate keys for turning and sidestepping. So, you'd have the stylus to change weapons, turn, look, and view the map, the D-Pad for running and sidestepping, the L-button for weapon trigger, and maybe the other shoulder button or a stylus double-tap for the secondary trigger. Metroid uses the double-tap for its jump, but Marathon doesn't have one, so that'd probably be the best bet. Plus, with that kind of control scheme, you could set the unit up to use the XYAB buttons and R-trigger, instead of the D-Pad and L-trigger, for left-handed people. You can't go wrong, I say!
