Durandal == rat?

Tycho says on Confound Delivery (Terminal 2: 2nd Message):
Curiosity killed the cat. Or should I say, the rat. He brought the Pfhor to Tau Ceti, and left me to their tender mercies.
During all of Tycho's rants he keeps mentioning Durandal. Is this also referring to Durandal? It seems so from context. We all know where else rats are mentioned...

In his hand he saw a small white rat.
