In Response To: Re: Early Feedback (Ori) : I've actually been mapping for about eight years....have a 20+ level scenario
Really? I thought you said you didn't have a lot of experience doing this... : If you could put your finger on it I'd be glad to fix it. Until then I guess
The one specific thing I've noticed is some of the texture usage - things like the oval-shaped lights being textured onto the ceiling, and cutting off over the walls. That's the one thing that keeps coming to mind. Oh, the other specific thing is, I'm not entirely sure you understand the purpose/location of this level. You have the space landscape near the beginning, when it's supposed to have the Spherescape, and even then, it's only supposed to be on the ceiling; you shouldn't be able to look down at landscape anywhere in the level. You start on ground level and then make your way underground. Also, the structure of the place - I'm going from memory here and I may be getting a little confused - also didn't seem very... structured. Feels a bit more like natural caves and grottos than an AI's datacore. I suppose this IS a Jjaro structure, though, and they DID build Thoth underground... maybe they just like the natural aesthetics, and build them even into their artificial structures. That would fit well with Dylan's map too. Perhaps things aren't so bad after all, I've just got to adjust my mindset... and my own map designs, when I get to working on them... I'd like it if you'd keep working on the other two anyways. I'd rather have all the maps done on time with some problems than get off schedule and eventually get things perfect. Nothing will ever be perfect, and thus far people seem to think that things look pretty good. So, keep on chuggin', we'll make sure it all works out. Perhaps it would be better if you could make some adjustments to L43 first, though, based on my feedback above. Thanks! : The monster behavior I can fix easily enough, just needs more testing I
Maybe that's what you said, and I just misread it it... sorry if I was rude or anything about that... |
