I figured I'd play the first level solo on Normal, then switch to Heroic+ coop for the rest. With Halo 1, that would allow you to get the extra "tutorial" stuff like the bit where you can see your feet, and the bit where you whack the door to get it to work.

I've played most of Halo 1 in coop only, since until Sept '04 I could only play other peoples' copies.
