I got it. i beat it in a few days. The story was excellent. Just as I suspected, it took what started as a fairly small, insular story and expanded it to crasy hugeness. Much like Marathon 2 did back in the good old days. People complain, but I loved the end. Sure it ends on a cliffhanger, but its part of a trilogy. This is the 'Empire' of the series. We can't have everything wrap up nicely then have Halo3 consist of the Chief jockyin' a desk in some military base, waving to crowds from the occasional parade float. The end fits the story arc perfectly.
But I'm still trying to wrap my head around the final, post-credits end.
Anyway, my only complaint was that the game was a bit short. I beat it in three days, which isn't terrible for a console FPS, but I wish it could have gone on for longer.
