I'm not sure how the reinstall changed things, but Windows Aleph One doesn't show terminal picts for most scenarios I try. M1A1 is one of the exceptions. It's a bug.
I just tried OpenGL mode, and it seems to work on my system in full-screen and windowed mode, but full-screen software mode still doesn't work.
