To answer Tiger's statment/question:

It's well known Ambrosia Software includes the occasional tribute to Bungie's games within their own. A less obvious tribute is one of their ads for "Ferazel's Wand", and a chapter screen in the game. Both bear similar staging to two Marathon chapter screens.
