In Response To: Nebulon Corpse Scenery *img* (Ernie)

: I retraced the terminal image's dead Nebulon (found under Tfears feet) and
: gave him an rounded helmet, similar to those found in the term images
: background. The little guy is completly re-colored and re traced, so I
: avoided the uglyness of Bungie's own gradient color in *that* particular
: pict.

It looks like a great death pic by the way. For some reason I always thought that Nebulons would be almost perfectly round and not the sterotypical 2 legged, 2 armed symian look. That's just me though

: What do people think? I've also got an burnt / crispy version of the Nebulon,
: dead for wide spread use on their invaded scout ship.

: I was thinking about this, but can't really come to terms with how the
: Nebulons, as CO2 breathing organisms, could / would spontaneously combust
: if exposed to an Oxygen / Nitrogen environment.

With a sulpher based geology you could do some pretty fun things. When mixed with enough water you could make a sulfuric acid blood type substance (Aliens anyone?). I'm not sure why they would have a lot of water on their scoutship though

: Steve : How exactly did you propose the spontaneous Nebulon combustion? I
: love the idea. From what I recal, it involved H2O (water), that would
: react with their biology, which is perhaps sulfer based (?).

: I'm wondering if a heavy concentration of H2) moisture would be enough to
: base a compustion among such an alien organism.

From what I know, no I don't think you could make spontaneous combustion just from having a nitrogen based chemistry. But then again I suck at chemistry (even when I'm doing it at uni, sigh). Maybe I should have just left this part for Steve Levinson

: As far as a CO2 breathing alien is concerned: Is it reasonable to believe
: that they don't breathe pure Co2, but like Humans; a mix of the primary
: gas mixed with, say... Nitrogen?

Makes sense to me. The odds of a planetary atmosphere being just one gas is probably very, very small. Anyway I wouldn't use Nitrogen just because it's too familiar too people, use a gas mixture like Xenon, or Butane, or something that is different. Just because you can.
